Blackberry Margarita

FOOD FACT: Tequila is made from the blue agave. The core of the plant contains aguamiel or “honey water,” which is used for syrup (and tequila) production.
Ingredients
- Ice cubes
- ¼ cup fresh or frozen blackberries
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 4 ounces good tequilac
- 1½ ounces simple syrup (see recipe below)
- Few dashes of orange bitters
Instructions
SIMPLE SYRUP:
Add 1 cup of water and 1¼ cups of granulated sugar to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves, boiling about 2 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely.
MARGARITA:
Add the ice cubes to glasses. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the blackberries and lime juice until the blackberries are pulverized. Add the tequila, simple syrup, and bitters and then shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into the glasses.
