20th Century
20th Century is a French cocktail made 85% of white wine aged in oak and fruit liqueur based on both bitter and sweet oranges.
I discovered this marvelous concoction late one night with my good friend Elieke at an old speakeasy in Washington, DC. The ingredient list might look a bit odd (I’m not a fan of gin) but the final product is an amazingly tasteful combination.
FOOD FACT: Lillet Blanc is a wine-based aperitif made in Bordeaux, France. It’s made of about 85% white wine aged in oak; the remaining amount is a fruit liqueur based on both bitter and sweet oranges (fruit and peels macerated separately) and quinine.
Ingredients
- 1½ ounces gin
- ½ ounce Lillet Blanc
- ½ ounce Crème de Cacao White
- ¾ ounce ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed
Instructions
Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass and top with a lemon twist. Serve immediately.
