Barbecue Jalapeño Cheddar Burgers
Nothing rocks a summer grill out better than a juicy Barbacued Jalapeño Cheddar Burger with barbeque sauce on Texas toast.
Nothing rocks a summer grill out better than a juicy jalapeño cheddar burger with barbeque sauce on Texas toast. My best friend and I spent many summers perfecting these spicy delicious burgers. If you can’t take the heat...eliminate the jalapeños!
FOOD FACT: The trick to the perfect juicy burger is to grill over high heat and only flip once, about 4 minutes per side. High heat brings out the flavors but doesn’t allow the burger to lose moisture. Salt will also draw moisture out of the meat.
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds ground beef (80/20)
- 1½ tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauced
- 1½ teaspoons black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1½ tablespoons jalapeño peppers, minced
- ¼ cup chopped yellow onion
- 8 slices of Texas toast, prepared according to package directions
- 4 slices of sharp cheddar cheese
- Barbeque sauce
Instructions
Preheat the grill. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, brown sugar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, minced jalapeño peppers, and chopped yellow onion until evenly distributed. Lightly shape into four evenly sized patties. Place the patties on the grill on high heat. Grill 4 minutes on each side covered, flipping only once. Place a cheddar cheese slice on top of each patty and close grill for an additional 1 minute for medium-well. Serve on Texas toast with your favorite barbeque sauce (I prefer Sweet Baby Ray’s original).
